I have been involved in the world of neurodiversity and education for over 20 years and have been a SENCo in independent schools both in the UK and internationally.
I am a Specialist Dyslexia Assessor and have experience working with other neurodiversity’s such as ADHD, Autism and DCD. I have a particular interest in the role Emotional Intelligence plays in developing an individual’s self-belief, confidence and skill set to better equip them to be more successful in all aspects of their lives.
Qualifications:
I am a qualified specialist teacher assessor holding an approved qualification including a current Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Assessment Practising Certificate (APC- Patoss)
Rod has a background in retail operations for several large department stores and other organisations. His skills in administration are vital to ensuring the smooth running of the business side of things. His extensive experience and attention to detail make him an indispensable part of our team, supporting the operational and administrative aspects with expertise and efficiency.
Carol and Rod have had varied and differing lives but in 2013, having both been widowed, they met and married two years later in 2015. Between them they have 6 children and 7 grandchildren. Currently they spend their time between North Devon and Gloucestershire. They share a love of sport, holidaying abroad and spending time with family.
Carol’s eldest son was born with a kidney condition which meant he had dialysis from the age of 4 and a transplant at 6 years old which worked brilliantly until it failed when he was in his late teens. This meant him returning to dialysis and sadly passing away at the age of 28. Following this sudden event, just 6 months after they married, Carol and Rod were presented with an opportunity to go and live and work in Kenya. Carol was to head up the Learning Success Centre of a well-known independent school and Rod was to use his skills in charity work. We lived there for three years and were so blessed to live alongside some amazing people who have so much joy and yet have so little in terms of money and possessions. We were able to support a children’s project, a breakfast feeding programme, a local village school as well as a local special school. This bought much needed help for them but actually I think we gained the most. We returned to the UK in 2019. Carol worked as Head of Personalised Learning at an Independent School in Devon but decided to move away from working in schools to focus on ‘Discovering the Power of You’ which has been a long time in the making.
